  God says, يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍۢ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ  وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ   لَا يَسْتَوِىٓ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ   [Surah Hashr, ayaat 18-20] In these ayaat, God has instructed us to fear Him, and check what have invested for the hereawefter. He has also warned us not to be negligent of Him, lest He makes us negligent of our own selves, and it is such people that are defiantly disobedient. We all know that following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is an essential part of deen. But did you know that everything that the Prophet said or did is not necessarily Sunnah? There is a chapter in Hujjatullah alBaligah that explores how Hadith and Sunnah are two different things. Every Sunnah is not in the form of Hadith. For instance, we have Mutawatir narrations (verbal or practical), that have been passed on generation after generation, but are not found in any Hadith book, like namaz procedure from start to end. Likewise, every Hadith is not required to be followed as Sunnah. Gen Z boys, growing up in urban nuclear families, are witnessing a solitary environment far removed from the closely knit communities of yore. With hardly anyone to guide them in matters related to manhood and marriage, they often turn to the internet or to friends who are as clueless as they are. The Qur'an, being a complete code of life, dedicates several of its passages to elaborate upon interhuman relations. This is in complete contrast to the attention it grants to the ‘pillars of Islam’ like prayers and fasting and zakat and hajj. The Qur'an leaves it to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to explain how and when to offer namaz, what is the nisab for zakat, how to perform hajj, and their associated rulings.
